The Petaminx – The Hardest Puzzle Cube On Earth

Well, sorta.. Because it’s not even a cube. I don’t know what to call it. It looks like the big brother of Rubik’s cube on STEROIDS. Anyway, this mofo has 2 faces, sporting 101 small squares per face. Totaling to 1, 212 squares, enough to blow your brains out. Why? Well, the Rubik’s cube only has 54 squares on it and took a guy named Graham Parker, 26 years to solve the thing. How much more the Petaminx?

The Petaminx was designed by Andrew Cornier and was built by Jason Smith of puzzleforge. It took Smith 75 hours of work ‘cuz it consisted of 975 parts. This will be available on eBay on March 12.

I’m pretty sure that somewhere, somehow, someone will solve this. And he will be crowned the biggest geek of them all.

Casting Would-Be’s: Video Game To Movies

PWN or DIE has chosen to focus on video games as films and who they would like to see playing some of their favorite video game characters. They came up with thirty examples of “popular” actors and actresses they feel would fit as video game icons.

I agree with some. My first choice and a real stand-out is Dave Batista as Marcus Fenix. It’s like he is born to play Marcus Fenix. The designers of Gears of War must be a huge Batista fan. They do damn look almost the same. Second is Vin Diesel as Kratos. Looking at the pic they have a resemblance, although not quite, but I think Vin can pull it off. His voice is almost identical that of Kratos. Plus, he is bankable.

I also agree with Edgar Ramirez as Altair, Tom Selleck as Solid Snake and Gerard Butler as Zangief.

Danny Devito as Dr. Eggman, Dennis Farina as Dr. Wily, John Malkovich as Dr. Neo Cortex and Jason Lee as Mario was pretty funny though. But the rest was… meh…

Escape From City 17 – Part 1

This uber cool short movie is based on the Half-Life game (Sorry, no Gordon Freeman on this one). It’s directed by independent filmmakers and commercial directors the “Purchase Brothers” -- what an awesome last name.

With all the beautifully rendered effects and flares, you’d think it’s a big budget film. But it’s not. Actually the first two episodes were made on a tight budget of $500. And yet they have produced a wonderful and amazing short film worthy of anyone’s attention. Uwe Boll should definitely learn from this guys.

Kudos to the Purchase brothers for such a remarkable film!
