Clothes That Grow From Living Human Tissue

Well, this is a bit nasty.

In a disclosed lab some scientists decided to make a tiny coat (pictured above) made of err — living tissue.

The coat is basically a living organism. Which means it is alive! (wtf!). Talk about science fiction nightmare!

Known as Victimless Leather, this project was grown onto a polymer matrix, coated with immortalized living cells, and shaped into a stitchless form to create a coat like shape.

They said it was created for the sake of art. Lovely.

Scientists Believe 5,300-Year-Old Mummified ‘Ice Man’ Belonged To Unknown Branch Of Human Family Tree

A 5,300-year-old mummified ‘ice man’ unearthed in the Alps belonged to a previously unknown branch of the human family tree, scientists have discovered.

No trace of the lineage appears to remain today, meaning that the ‘ice man’ – dubbed ‘Oetzi’ – is unlikely to have any descendants.

Scientists Create The Most Relaxing Room In The World

Psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman of Hertfordshire University claimed that he created what is being billed as ‘The world’s most relaxing room.’ Based on cutting-edge scientific research, this unique space features a combination of light, projection, sound, and smell designed to guarantee ultimate bliss.

He designed and constructed a large-scale multi-media space that aims to calm even the most stressed out of minds.

The room will be unveiled at the launch event of the Showcase on Tuesday 21 October at 6pm.

During the Showcase, which runs from 21-24 October at the University’s de Havilland campus, groups of up to ten visitors at a time will be invited to enter this large and unusual space, lie on soft matting and rest their head on lavender-scented pillows. In each fifteen minute session, people will be bathed in a calming glade-like green light, listen to a specially composed soothing soundtrack, and look at a completely clear artificial blue sky.

“The pace of modern-day life, credit crunch, and financial crisis is making many people feel very stressed and so we have created this space to help them relax”, noted Professor Wiseman.

“Research suggests that the subdued green light enhances the production of dopamine in the brain and provide a calming sensation. In addition, the artificial blue sky helps create a mild form of sensory deprivation that will help them turn their attention inward and distract them away from daily stress.”

Professor Wiseman added, “Previous work has shown that these colours, sounds and smells all help people relax, but this is the first time that they have been combined in this way, and it will be fascinating to look at the effect on visitors’ relaxation levels.“

This is a great idea!  This will definitely reduce work-related stress.

The 10 Most Puzzling Ancient Artifacts

The Bible tells us that God created Adam and Eve just a few thousand years ago, by some fundamentalist interpretations. Science informs us that this is mere fiction and that man is a few million years old, and that civilization just tens of thousands of years old. Could it be, however, that conventional science is just as mistaken as the Bible stories? There is a great deal of archeological evidence that the history of life on earth might be far different than what current geological and anthropological texts tell us. Consider these astonishing finds:

The Dropa Stones

In 1938, an archeological expedition led by Dr. Chi Pu Tei into the Baian-Kara-Ula mountains of China made an astonishing discovery in some caves that had apparently been occupied by some ancient culture. Buried in the dust of ages on the cave floor were hundreds of stone disks. Measuring about nine inches in diameter, each had a circle cut into the center and was etched with a spiral groove, making it look for all the world like some ancient phonograph record some 10,000 to 12,000 years old. The spiral groove, it turns out, is actually composed of tiny hieroglyphics that tell the incredible story of spaceships from some distant world that crash-landed in the mountains. The ships were piloted by people who called themselves the Dropa, and the remains of whose descendents, possibly, were found in the cave.

The Ica Stones

Beginning in the 1930s, the father of Dr. Javier Cabrera, Cultural Anthropologist for Ica, Peru, discovered many hundreds of ceremonial burial stones in the tombs of the ancient Incas. Dr. Cabrera, carrying on his father’s work, has collected more than 1,100 of these andesite stones, which are estimated to be between 500 and 1,500 years old and have become known collectively as the Ica Stones. The stones bear etchings, many of which are sexually graphic (which was common to the culture), some picture idols and others depict such practices as open-heart surgery and brain transplants. The most astonishing etchings, however, clearly represent dinosaurs – brontosaurs, triceratops (see photo), stegosaurus and pterosaurs. While skeptics consider the Ica Stones a hoax, their authenticity has neither been proved or disproved.

Traveling Through The Planet In 42 Minutes

Watch this video that explains that if we would dig a straight line between two points of the surface of the earth, and drop a capsule in it, it would take 42 minutes to reach the other side, no matter where. Yes, no matter where. Even If you were to dig a hole from your house to the nearest store in a straight line it would still take 42 minutes to get there. Because of gravity. WTF!

42, 42, 42, 42 sounds familiar? Yes, it’s the number 42. This number is basically everywhere, from mathematics to science, astronomy, religion etc. It is said that the number 42 is the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. You can read about the number 42 HERE, HERE and HERE.

So if anyone ask you why are we here? The answer is “42″.

Watch the video. Interesting Stuff.

Mythbusters Draw The Mona Lisa In 80 Milliseconds!

Mythbuster’s Adam and Jaime created two robotic paintball guns to demonstrate the power of CPU and GPU. This is just a demonstration of how the two processor works in terms of calculations. They demonstrated it by painting in a canvas. They painted a smiley face in the first canvas using the Central Processing Unit (CPU)  while in the second canvas (with a big freaking gun) using the Graphics processing unit (GPU) they painted the Mona Lisa in just 80 milliseconds! WTF! Watch for the slow motion in the end of the video. This was for NVIDIA’s NVISION Show.

In terms of computer drawing on screen, a CPU would process one pixel at a time, while a GPU could draw 1100 pixels simultaneously. You don’t have to be a mathematician to compute the difference right?! But that’s quite a distance!

GPU is widely used in game consoles (PS3, XBOX 360 etc.). Modern GPU’s are very efficient at manipulating and displaying computer graphics, and their highly parallel structure makes them more effective than general-purpose CPU’s for a range of complex algorithms. A GPU can sit on top of a video card, or it can be integrated directly into the motherboard. More than 90% of new desktops and notebooks (computers) have integrated GPUs which are usually far less powerful than those on a video card.
