Student Creates Homeless Vehicle

University of Michigan graduate Stephen Mills has created a fully functional utility shelter vehicle, which he has dubbed the Homeless Utility Vehicle (HUV).

The HUV is a wheeled concoction of plywood, steel tubing and vinyl sheets. He designed it as a shelter, like a room, with a storage area and a small bed to sleep. He said he designed the vehicle as a concept and is by no means a cure for homelessness.

In order to test the HUV in a real world condition, he became homeless, roaming the streets in a cold weather. A condition were homeless people encounters everyday.

He said that the testing phase helped him understand the life of a homeless person.

More HUV in action after the jump.
